The reviews are out on the all-new 2017 Honda CR-V

Published on September 29 2017

The 2017 Honda CR-V is completely redesigned this year, but it still retains its spacious cabin, ride comfort, legendary reliability and balanced handling. It also makes great strides forward with regards to fuel economy with its new engine, and it is also has more connectivity and safety technology than ever before.

In other words, it still offers everything buyers liked about the previous-generation while greatly improving in a wide range of other areas.

We have already covered the 2017 Honda CR-V in another text. Now we want to take a look at the reviews that have been published recently about it.

The fifth-generation Honda CR-V crossover debuts this year riding on a new chassis with more aggressive styling, and an available turbocharged engine – the first offered in the model’s 20-year history. New standard features include LED daytime running lights and dual exhaust tips, and larger standard and available wheels.

A longer wheelbase increases interior space. Inside, there are more soft-touch materials, an available 7.0-inch touchscreen Display Audio interface with a Garmin-based navigation system as well as Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility, and the return of the volume knob. Other available features include LED headlights, Auto High Beam headlights, a power liftgate with hands-free access, and an electric parking brake with auto brake hold.

Though it hasn’t been tested by the NHTSA or IIHS, the Honda CR-V is offered with lots of standard and available active safety and driver-assistance tech. Honda is targeting top scores from both safety organizations. Available tech includes blind-spot detection, Rear Cross Traffic Monitor (CTM), and auto high beam headlights. Honda claims best-in-class rear seat legroom in the segment. – Motor Trend

The completely redesigned 2017 Honda CR-V could easily have been a case of "If it ain't broke, don't fix it." After all, the outgoing CR-V was still selling at a class-leading clip, so there was no pressing reason to change course. We would have understood if Honda made some superficial design tweaks and called it a day.

But instead we have the 2017 CR-V, a redo from the ground up that decisively parts ways with its competent but conservative predecessor. The styling has gone from anonymous to awesome, led by an aggressive new front fascia, reshaped rear windows and sculpted haunches that convey a surprising muscularity. For all trims except the base LX, that's backed up under the hood by Honda's excellent 1.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine, first seen in the Civic and a natural fit in the CR-V given its ample low-end torque and fuel-sipping ways. – Edmunds.com

It's hard to imagine a compact crossover better aligned with the needs of most buyers than the 2017 Honda CR-V.

Statistically-speaking, the Honda CR-V is probably at the top of your shopping list if you're in the market for a compact crossover SUV. Its combination of decent driving dynamics and a smartly-packaged interior with more room than its lithe dimensions suggest have made the CR-V a favorite with consumers for two decades running. – The Car Connection
