Honda introduces its all-new Honda Civic Si

The Honda Civic Si is about to hit the market, and the Japanese manufacturer chose the Los Angeles Auto Show to unveil its all-new high performance Civic Si in prototype form.

The Honda Civic Si is about to hit the market, and the Japanese manufacturer chose the Los Angeles Auto Show to unveil its all-new high performance Civic Si in prototype form. The new Honda Civic Si will join the Honda Civic Sedan, the Honda Civic Coupe and the Honda Civic Hatchback, as well as the next generation of the Honda Civic Type R (which we saw at the Paris Motor Show in September) to offer a complete range capable of meeting the needs of any buyer, regardless of what they are looking for in their next vehicle.

"With the new Honda Civic Si, we're injecting even more sporty goodness into our 10th-generation Civic lineup," said Jeff Conrad, senior vice president and general manager of Honda.  "This will be, hands down, the fastest, best-handling Si we've ever offered to our customers."

A new engine for the Honda Civic Si

The Honda Civic Si is a model for those who want a fun and sporty drive, but not necessarily as extreme as what you would find in the Honda Civic Type R which is built for use both on the track and on the road. It will be powered by a turbocharged 1.5-liter four-cylinder engine that develop 230 horsepower according to recent rumors. Although we do not know the exact power of the Civic Si’s next engine, it is certain that it will be more powerful than the current Honda Civic Si. All this will be paired with a short-shifting six-speed manual gearbox.

Other elements such as a limited slip differential, an active suspension that will adjust as required by the driver and the road, and active steering will also be included.

A brand new design for the Civic Si

Outside, the Honda Civic Si will stand out with an oversized wing that immediately reveals all the sporting capabilities of the car, an aerodynamic package from Honda’s performance division HFP, and 19-inch aluminum wheels with high-performance tires. There is also a narrow central exhaust tip that is unique to the Honda Civic Si.

Inside, buyers get dials with a red background, red stitching on the seats, steering wheel, gear lever and doors, Si emblems on the seats and a lot more side bolstering along with aluminum pedals. There is no doubt, the cockpit will live up to the sporty personality of the Honda Civic Si.
