2016 Honda HR-V: Adding to the success

Published on June 23 2015

Honda’s one of those manufacturers who constantly innovates, bringing new products to the market to meet niche markets and really tailor their products to specific buyers. Well, the brand new 2016 Honda HR-V is one of those innovative vehicles, and adds to the Honda CUV lineup alongside the CR-V and Pilot, offering up a more compact version based on the brand new Fit platform. The 2015 Honda HR-V is a versatile and fun to drive CUV, and truly offers everything you’d expect in a vehicle from Honda.

Offering the best of both worlds, the brand new 2016 Honda HR-V has CUV space and practicality coupled with the fuel efficiency and the drivability of a car. This is an extremely well-rounded car, and Honda went to great lengths to ensure the HR-V was up to Honda standards from the exterior design down to the throttle response and engine performance.

Speaking of exterior design: The 2016 Honda HR-V is instantly recognizable as a Honda with the manufacturer’s signature front grille (borrowed from the CR-V and Fit). While not outwardly flashy, the 2016 Honda HR-V is most definitely an eye-catching CUV with sophisticated lines and a modern take on a vehicle model we are getting all too familiar with seeing on the road today.

Step inside the 2016 Honda HR-V and that same sophisticated, modern design language follows suit. Of note, the HR-V features Honda’s brand new “floating” illumination rings in the instrument cluster; an instant conversation starter for any passengers joining you in your brand new 2016 Honda HR-V.

There are three HR-V models available: LX, EX and EX-L Navi. The same engine is featured across the 2016 Honda HR-V lineup, and it’s a refined and highly efficient 1.8L 4-cylinder i-VTEC mill that produces 141 horsepower and 127 lb-ft of torque. The HR-V can be ordered with either an automatic CVT or a short-shifting 6-speed manual (only available on LX and EX models with 2WD).

The brand new 2016 Honda HR-V truly is a fuel efficient CUV. It offers up owners an average of 6.7L/100km (2WD CVT). That’s pretty awesome for a vehicle that not only offers up family-style versatility and space, but also Honda’s Magic Seat and 1,665 litres of cargo space (with the second row folded).

Truly, the brand new 2016 Honda HR-V is about giving modern, urban families what they really want and need in a compact crossover. With in-car amenities that rival some luxury models, plenty of interior room, a great exterior look, and a price that won’t have you sweating every month, the 2016 Honda HR-V is a vehicle that’s sure to be a hit -- and Honda knows it.
